Betty M. Lewis, 87, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Wednesday August 18, 2010 at La Porte Hospital. She was born April 14, 1923 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, the daughter of Louis Kepplin and Ethel Rose (Nelson) Beyer. Betty was a homemaker. She did beautiful cross-stitch, and was great at flower arranging. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles, and was a big NASCAR fan. Betty loved going to the casinos and was "born to shop". On April 26, 1946, in LaPorte, IN, she married Mervin "Bud" Lewis who preceded in death May 24, 1984. She is survived by her three sons - William (Babe) Lewis of La Porte, IN, Robert (Debbie) Beyer of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Jon (Shelly) Lewis of La Porte, IN; two daughters - Jean (Ernie Bisig) Miller of North Port, FL, Vicki (Jesse) Bair of La Porte, IN; sister - Dorothy Steen of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, four grandsons, and step-father, Earl Beyer. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Sunday, August 22, 2010 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Monday, August 23, 2010 from 10:00 am, until time of services. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Monday August 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jo Ellyn Chadwick officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
