Betty Veal Tipton, 75, of Maryville, Tennessee, left this earthly life behind on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at MorningView Village Transitional Care Center after a valiant fight against cancer. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Maryville from birth where she raised her family. Betty worked for many years at T.V.A., then finished her career with Sterling Engineering Company of Maryville, Tennessee. She was an avid golfer for over four decades and was a volunteer for many years at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Odes (J. O.) Veal and Eula Mae Veal of Maryville, Tennessee. She leaves behind a legacy in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Daughters, Anita Karen Tipton Wagner and Connie Marie Tipton Eller ; Son, Joseph Bennett Tipton and wife Janet ; Grandchildren, Elichia M. Brown and husband Bill ,Laura Michelle Williford, Suzanne Lenore Gregory and husband Andrew, Andrew Bennett Tipton and Alexander Lynn Tipton, and John Lacy Williford and wife Angela; great-granddaughter, Alexandra Elizabeth Gregory; step-great-grandson, Bryson; Uncles, Eugene and wife Irene Veal; Charles and wife Margie Veal; Aunt, Margaret Sipe Lequire, and numerous cousins. The family wishes to express its gratitude to the staff of MorningView Village Transitional Care Center. A Celebration of Life Service to greet friends, relatives and loved ones will be hosted by the family in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary from 10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2006. Friends may call at their convenience prior to that time. Procession to follow to Grandview Mausoleum Chapel for an entombment service officiated by Reverend Larry Carroll of First United Methodist Church and Reverend Charles Ballard.
