Beverly Novy, age 81 of Milbank passed away August 19, 2012, at the Milbank Area Hospital – Avera Health. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 22nd at 10:30 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. Rev. Kim Kanitz will officiate and burial will be in the Milbank Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 – 7 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service. Honorary bearers will be her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all her dear friends. Casket bearers will be: Wade Novy, Garrett Novy, Chad Novy, Tyler Novy, Roger Schwandt, and Richard Schwandt. Curt Berkner and Pattie Berkner will be the vocalists and Carol Ydstie will be the organist. Beverly Mae (Skaarer) Novy was born June 20, 1931, in Milbank, SD. She was the daughter of Elvin and Lillian (Erickson) Skaarer. She graduated from Milbank High School and graduated from Western Nurse's Institute in California, with a LPN degree. She was united in marriage with Alfred Novy on May 28, 1950, at Milbank. Alfred's career took them to many different locations, including Deadwood, SD, Milbank, SD; California; Norfolk, VA; then settling on the Novy family farm southwest of Revillo, SD in Deuel County. They farmed together for 20 years. Following their retirement, they sold their home and became fulltime "RVers", spending the winter months in New Mexico and summer months as the Hart Ranch in Rapid City, SD. They returned to Milbank in May of 2000. Alfred passed away October 22, 2000. Beverly Novy is survived by four sons: Marty (Kathy) Novy of Revillo, SD; Brad (Wanda) Novy of Revillo, SD; Scott Novy of Tucumcari, NM; Daniel (Stacey) Novy of Dawson, MN; 17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Doris Schwandt of Milbank, SD; Elaine Aden of Watertown, SD; Judith (Carlton) Anderson of Benson, MN; two sisters-in-law: Mary Blackman of Oak Park Heights, MN; Barbara Novy of Clear Lake, SD; one brother-in-law, Francis (Betty) Novy of Winston, OR and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
