Billie Jo Jones, age 82, of Glenwood, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013. She was born on September 4, 1931, in Lordsburg, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her mother, Willie R. Gill; her father, Olen Belshe; her grandparents, Jesse and Dolly Fox; two sons, Robert O. Jones and William C. Jones; her son-in-law, Don Toomey; her grandson, Chris Jones; and three sisters, Millie Boyd, Sue Lawson and Sherry Gill. On June 22, 1962, she was married to Houston C. Jones, Jr. In 1971, she was honored as Texas Insurance Woman of the Year. She was a member and Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Glenwood Chapter #396 and a member of the Glenwood United Methodist Church. Considered the matriarch of her family, she was a very kind, giving and generous person and will be truly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her husband, Houston C. Jones, Jr. of Glenwood; two daughters, Demetra Toomey of Cleveland, Tennessee and Cynthia Rice of Richmond, Texas; her son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Lyn Jones of Glenwood; seven grandchildren, Keith Jones, Chrissy Rhea, Robert Jones, Jesse Jones, Melanie McCollum, Demi Kinney and Donnie Rice; her great-grandchildren, Carly Jo, Kalelyn, J.D., Brett, Bradley, Brady, Cora, Jude, Ryan, Sawyer, Hailey and Nate, as well as two soon to be great-grandsons; two sisters, Mary Petry of California and Donna Hill of Florida; and many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and friends. Services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, October 25, 2013, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. Glen Harris and Bro. Lonnie Landers officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Interment will be in the Valley Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan Rhea, Jerry Richardson, Eddie Boyd, Dickie Johnson, Bryce Walker and Tommy Bean. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
