Billy Gerald (B.G) Cadle
Billy Gerald (B.G.) Cadle, age 85 of Beckley, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2011 at CAMC Hospital in Charleston, following a long illness.
Born September 26, 1925 at Winding Gulf, WV, he was the son of the late Reverend W.O. and Mary Bragg Cadle.
He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School where he is a member of the Football Hall of Fame; and attended Washington and Lee University. Bill was a long time fan of WWHS football. He was proud of his Beckley community and always kept distant family members aware of its rapid growth.
Bill worked for General Stores at Eccles, Stotesbury and Helen, WV and Beckley Manufacturing and retired after 25 years of service as general manager of Beckley Telecable Corp.
He was an active member of Maxwell Hill Baptist Church and the Beckley Lions Club who presented Mr. Cadle with the Leonard Jarrett award for distinguished sight service. Mr. Cadle served as a Marine in WWII and was a member of the Raleigh County Post 32 of the American Legion.
Billy was the loving husband of 51 years to Frieda M. Rogers Cadle, who preceded him in death in 2000.
He was a devoted father to four daughters, Barbara W. Davis (Haven) of Mt. Hope, WV, Linda Hamilton (Bob) of South Point, OH, Cynthia Jane Jackson of Beckley and Sherry Demyan (Greg) of Beckley; grandchildren include Salem, Jr. Sabe, and Nathan Jackson, Natalie, Lindsey and Catherine Hamilton, Andrew and Lucas Demyan; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 5, 2011 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Rev. Ken Killen officiating. Family will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Friends may gather with the family Thursday from 6 – 8 PM at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association.
