Blake Wilson Austin
September 21, 1924 – February 5, 2011
Blake W. Austin 86, of Huntsville passed away Saturday at Tut Fann Veterans Home. Mr. Austin a native of Statesville, NC, was a veteran of World War II; He served with the 86th Blackhawk Infantry Division in the Pacific as well as in Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Austin was an electronic technician and retired in 1980 from the U.S. Army Metrology and Calibration at Redstone Arsenal.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Elsie Harris Austin. Children Gayle Balmut and her husband John, Teri Winkler and her husband Jay and Suzanne Stripling and her husband Steve. 7 grand children, 3 Great grandchildren and also 2 brothers and 1 sister. He is also survived by his loving nieces, nephews, friends and his loving church family at University Baptist. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 am until 1 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel.
