Bobby Eugene Schoppe August 21, 1930 ~ February 11, 2011 Funeral services for Bobby E. Schoppe, 80, of Somerville, and a lifelong resident of Burleson County, are set for 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2011 at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Somerville. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, under the direction of the Lee Scott Masonic Lodge, in Somerville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Sunday until 9:00 p.m. with the family present between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. Mr. Schoppe died Friday, February 11, 2011 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. He was born August 21, 1930 in Lyons, Texas, the son of Edward and Lois (Rhodes) Schoppe. He attended school in Somerville and was the owner and operator of Schoppe Auto in Somerville for 53 years. He was married to Billie Jean (Elliott) Schoppe on August 11, 1949 until her death December 30, 1992. He was married Mary G. Schoppe in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 15, 1995. Bobby was a community minded person who served as a Burleson County Commissioner for 28 years; he served on the Somerville City Council for a number of years; he was a master Mason and a member of Lee Scott Lodge No. 793 A.F. & A.M of Somerville; and a member of Scottish Rite. He also served on the Board of Directors of Citizen State Bank of Somerville for many years, and was considered a very generous and honest man. He was a good friend to everyone, a wonderful husband; a great father; and a good and kind man who never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Billie Jean; three brothers, an infant brother, Jimmy Schoppe and Earnest "Bubba" Schoppe. He is survived by his wife, Mary Schoppe of Somerville; his son, Jeff Schoppe of Somerville; his daughter and son-in-law, Shari and David Funderburg of Conroe; his grandchildren, Holly Ann Schoppe of Somerville, Nevada Lee Schoppe of Somerville, Amy and her husband Nobel Craig of Pflugerville, and Carey and her husband Billy Peterson of Bothell, Washington; great grandchildren, Grayson and Hope Craig of Pflugerville and James and Cole Peterson of Bothell, Washington; his aunt Mavis Lueckemeyer of Bryan; along with his extended family and a host of friends.
