Memorial services for Bobby Joe Kelly will be Friday, November 19, 2010 at Sanders Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bruce Cotton officiating. He was born February 17, 1935 to Annie Maude Cox and Melvin Gibson Kelly. He had an older brother Gerald Elmo Kelly and a younger sister Melba Ann Kelly. All preceded him in death.
He married Maryann Sarah Muir, born September 18, 1936 on June 5, 1954 in Coahoma County, Ms. His wife preceded him in death on December 31. 2008. Bobby and Maryann had three sons, Terry Lee Kelly of Falkville, Al, Charles Michael Kelly and Shaun Patrick Kelly both of Lubbock. He had three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Bobby served 22 years in the United States Air Force and served around the world. He was stationed a far west as Taiwan and a far east as West Berlin, Germany. Bobby retired in June of 1974 with the rank of MSgt. He then continued his career working in warehouses for TG&Y and McCrory's stores.
Bobby was an avid sports fan, especially of his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. The way the Cardinals played baseball would definitely reflect his mood, and all of his good friends, acquaintances and family knew this.
Bobby gave freely of his time and talents when it came to gardening or just everyday yard work. He also put in 1000 hours with the American Red Cross and also volunteered his time at the hospital pharmacy at Reese AFB in Lubbock, TX.
Poor health took him away from his volunteer work but he still loved to follow his beloved ball team not only on television, but on the Internet, which he took to with very little problems.
