Bryan Andrew Carter-Massey was born on April 20, 1966 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, son of Helen Massey Boyd and the late Edward "Chub" Carter. Bryan was the oldest of three boys born to Helen Massey Boyd. Bryan was raised in Roselle, New Jersey and educated in the Roselle Public School System. He was a 1984 graduate of Abraham Clark High School in Roselle. Bryan joined the United States Marine Corp in 1984 until he was honorably discharged in 1988. He then furthered his career at the DeVry Technical Institute and graduated as a truck mechanic. Following in the footprints of his mother and stepfather, Bryan became a Corrections Officer at the East Jersey State Prison in Avenel, New Jersey where worked for 22 years was currently employed. He was a member of Heard A.M.E. Church in Roselle. He was a Mason. Bryan, affectionately known as "Senior Massey" or "Little Mustafa", was a loving and caring person to all he came in contact with. He acquired the name "Senior Massey" because was the rock of the Massey family. He kept all of his cousins in line and protected them when they needed protection. Bryan was the big brother to his little brothers, Vincent, Terence, Sean and Daniel. On Tuesday, March 22, 2011 Bryan made the decision that his time here on earth was up and decided to make his transition to his heavenly home. He departed this life from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway in Rahway, New Jersey at the age of 44. Bryan leaves to cherish fond memories, a son, Isaiah Massey of Douglasville, GA; his mother, Helen Massey- Boyd of Linden, NJ; his stepmother, Dorothy Carter of Newark, NJ; four brothers, Vincent Wright of Roselle, NJ, Sean Carter of Newark, NJ, Terrence Boyd of Rahway, NJ and Daniel Carter of VA; a sister, Arethea Oglesby of Roselle, NJ; his companion, Michele Stanley of Rahway, NJ; nine aunts, Mary Hurling, Hazel Walker, Arlene Carmichael, Carolyn Williams, Arvetta Farmer, Nellie Carter, Flora Winslow, Diane Carter and Louise Massey; an uncle, Cleveland Carter; three nieces, two nephews; a godson, Khiry Robinson and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
