Bulmaro "Maro" Lopez, 68, of Soledad, passed away at home surrounded by family and friends, Saturday, June 16, 2012. Maro was born August 18, 1943 in Weslaco, Texas and had been a resident of Monterey County since 1969. He was employed as a machine operator and long distance truck driver, having worked for Wilsey Bennett and Massolo Trucking. He was a joyous person, well read, and greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his grandkids. Maro was a motorcycle enthusiast, he enjoyed hiking at the Pinnacles National Monument and Arroyo Seco, gardening, playing tennis and guitar. He was a true lover of mother nature, the outdoors, and animals. Maro often spend his free time searching for "hidden treasures" at thrift shops and yard sales. He was a member of the Soledad Lions Club and was active in community events and was always willing to volunteer his time to help others. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ninfa Lopez of Soledad; 5 children, Bulmaro Lopez of LA County, Corina (Luis R. Colon) Lopez of San Leandro, Christina Lopez of Capitola, Maro Lopez of Morgan Hill, Michael Lopez of Soledad; grandchildren, Alexander, Carolina, and Gabriel; 1 sister. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, July 8, 2012 at 12 noon at Soledad Lions Hall, 161 Park St, Soledad. Private inurnment will take place at the Soledad Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be sent to SPCA, PO Box 3058, Monterey, CA 93942.
