Burt W. Taylor, a long time resident of Shrewsbury, died on November 25, 2015 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center. He was 72.

Born on June 17, 1943 to Albert & Helen (Jokela) Taylor in Holden, Burt graduated from Maynard High School Class of 1961 where he was captain of the baseball team. Burt was raised by a special man in his life, his step-father George F. Whalen. He went on to attend Worcester Junior College where he received his Associates Degree in Science Civil Engineering. Burt served his country proudly for six years in the United States Army National Guard.

Burt worked as a Land Surveyor for many years for the City of Marlborough until his retirement in 2005. An avid fan of all sports, Burt's passion was golf. The highlight of his golf career came when he joined the 'hole in one' Club with his first and only ace on the 5th hole at Juniper Hills. Burt excelled in many sports but enjoyed his days as a semi-professional baseball player and his years playing touch football in a League he co-founded with his brother in Shrewsbury which later became part of the Worcester Parks Football League. Burt coached little league in Maynard and women's softball in Westboro. In addition to sports,
Burt was a movie buff and also an accomplished pianist.

Burt was married to Linda S. (Pearson) and they had 43 happy years together. They called Shrewsbury home for the last 40 years.

Burt is survived by his wife Linda, his twin brother Robert and wife MaryAnn Taylor of Berlin; sisters Patricia Hill and husband, David, of Florida and Kathleen Gilpatrick and husband, Michael, of Tennessee; brothers-in-law Gil Pearson of Worcester and Edward Pearson and wife Christine of Southborough; sisters-in-law, Joyce Savini and husband Daniel of Sandwich, and Caroline Pearson of Shrewsbury; mother-in-law Phyllis Pearson of Shrewsbury and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Burt's Life will be held on Sunday November 29th from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at The Haven Country Club, 369 Cross Street, Boylston.
