Flanery, Byron W. "Pete"
Passed away quietly on February 2, 2012 after a 20 month illness. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Thelda; son, Mike of Sunnyvale; daughter, Sharon and husband Dale Allen of Terrell; daughter, Sheri and husband Brad DeLuca of Houston; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren and 2 very special great nieces, Heather and Brittney Rentfro who loved him like a grandfather.
Pete was truly a man for all seasons! He could tell jokes better than anyone. He could tell them in any dialect--Jewish, Black or Irish. He loved to dance, and he could out-shine anyone on the dance floor! He truly loved life and lived it to the fullest. Pete loved his family and friends and was the first one to offer help to anyone.
He was a Manufacturer's Representative for more than 50 years. He represented many factories including Aladdin Industries and Aluminum Specialty Company for a large part of those years, covering Texas and Oklahoma. He retired at age 85 in 2003 to enjoy life on their farm in Kaufman County. For many years he was a member of Lakewood Country Club where he was an avid golfer, and he could always find a gin game to join. He and his wife traveled extensively, and Las Vegas was a favorite get-away spot.
Pete was a large supporter of the College Mound Volunteer Fire Department, the Terrell Noon Lion's Club and served on the board of the fire department until his death. He was a member of College Mound United Methodist Church in Terrell, Texas.
Service will be on Sunday, February 5th at 4:00pm. Visitation one hour prior at Restland Memorial Chapel, 13005 Greenville Ave. Dallas, TX 75243 with burial in the Chapel Gardens Mausoleum with Rev. Larry Davis officiating.
