Tech. Sgt. Byron (Honz) Vance Honsvick
Tech. Sgt. Byron (Honz) Vance Honsvick, our beloved brother, uncle and friend passed away Thursday evening, May 19, 2011, from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident. He was surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Wahiawa, Oahu, Hawaii on September 24, 1969 and was the 5th of six children. Byron entered the Air Force 20 years ago in May of 1991 and, after completing technical training as an Avionics Technician, was stationed in Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, Eglin AFB, Florida, and finally Holloman AFB, New Mexico. Sgt Honsvick was an avid motorcycle rider and was a member of the local motorcycle club Unwritten Riders. He was also a Shade Tree mechanic and enjoyed spending his weekends working on his truck or bike. If he was not doing that, he liked to take his truck off road. One of his favorite places to go was hang glider hill overlooking Alamogordo. Byron had a heart of gold, always willing to help those that needed it. He was clever and handy, and it didn’t seem like there was anything he couldn’t do. He distinguished himself as an avionics technician with the Air Force and excelled at all he was asked to do. Byron loved life, lived it large and went out doing what he loved. He has started the next ride ahead of us and we miss him.
Sgt Honsvick is survived by his 3 sisters Ginger Burkett (Ken), Camille Hillsamer (Jack), Terry Honsvick, his brother Guy Conway, and 13 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Willard and Jennie Honsvick, and his sister Peggie
