Carl Orto, 77, of Loveland passed away on July 16, 2010 at the McKee Medical Center Hospice Unit. He was born on May 19, 1933 in Savanna, IL, to Carl L. and Ella (Bowers) Orto. On January 18, 1953 he married Patricia Falls at the First United Methodist Church in Thomson, IL. While residing in Savanna, IL, he was a Volunteer Fireman for 10 years. Carl worked as a Supervisor at the Kelly Springfield Tire Company in Freeport, IL. In 1979, Carl and Pat moved to Loveland, where he retired from the Thompson Valley School District. He was the Lead Custodian at the Laurene Edmondson and Cottonwood Plaines Schools. He enjoyed camping and family gatherings. Carl had a passion for anything pertaining to cars and racing. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, and a great-grandson. He is survived by his wife, Pat Orto of Loveland; a son, Lawrence (Mary Kay) Orto; daughters, Rhonda Orto (Nicholas Kanger) of Austin, TX, Kathy (Joseph) Bruehler of Springfield, VA, and Barbara (John) Petta of Melbourne Beach, FL; a sister, Mary Kelley; 2 nephews; a niece; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Recitation of the Rosary, followed by a Memorial Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Inurnment Resthaven Memory Gardens. Memorial Contributions can be made to Foothills Gateway or to Pathways Hospice in care of Resthaven Funeral Home, 8426 S Hwy 287, Fort Collins, CO 80525.
