GRANFORS - Carl E. Granfors, age 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1985, died Monday, December 5, 2011. He was born in Pontiac, MI on July 9, 1920. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vera; children, Melanie (James Ito), Carl and Stephanie; and grandchildren, January Newland, Autumn Waite (Joshua), and Cody G. Karr. During WWII, Carl served in the U.S. Army as a Major stationed in England where he met and married Vera. Upon his return to the United States, he began his career with General Motors Truck and Coach as an Electrical Engineer in Pontiac, MI. Shortly after retiring after 37 years with GM, Carl and Vera moved to Albuquerque. Carl enjoyed spending his time with his family. Friends may visit French - Wyoming Chapel Friday, December 9, 2011 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity "Land Legacy" Fund, P.O. Box 8353, Albuquerque, NM 87198.
