Carl Irving Mundy Marcy Carl Irving Mundy, 86, of Cavanaugh Rd. Marcy, passed away after a short illness on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011 with his family by his side at Faxton St. Luke’s Health Care in New Hartford. Carl was born on August 5, 1924 in Norwich, NY a son of the late Joseph and Henrietta Mundy. In January of 1942 he enlisted in the United Stated Marine Corps. He served in World War II as a mechanic for General Vandergriff’s plane, in the South Pacific. He was employed with Standard Oil of New Jersey for 11 years. In 1958, he went into business for himself known as Carl I Mundy Contractors. He sold the business and retired in 1984. Carl is survived by his loving wife Marilyn Mundy, whom he married in 1980. They shared many wonderful years together both in Marcy and at their second home in the Thousand Islands. He is also survived by a daughter Connie Mundy of Texas, his step- children, Mary Beth Cowen and her husband Bruce and their two daughters Lauren and Andrea of Clinton, Douglas Manion and Peter DeWitt of Albany; Bradley Manion and Jeffrey Giocondo of Albany; Edward Manion and his wife Ann and their children Jennifer, Tracy, Sam and Michelle of Waterville. Carl was predeceased by his brothers, Charles and Earl. He also leaves his devoted canine companion Molly. The family would like to offer a very special thank you to the Marcy Maynard Fire Dept. as well as the caring staff at Faxton St. Luke’s Health Care, Critical Care Unit. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Maynard United Methodist Church, 9639 Maynard Dr. Marcy, NY 13403. with the Rev. Cindy Makarchuk officiating. Interment will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Waterville. Family and friends are invited to call at the Church 1 hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Arrangements are with the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home Forty Main St. Whitesboro. In lieu of flowers please consider contributions to the Maynard United Methodist Church or the Maynard Fire Dept. in his memory. Envelopes will be available at the service.
