Carl "Max" West, 68 of Magnolia, Arkansas died April 30, 2008 at the Magnolia City Hospital.
He was born January 25, 1940 in Prescott, Arkansas to the late Carl Albert and Flora Mae (Jackson) West. Carl was a member of First Baptist Church and was a detective with the Intelligence Division with the City of Dallas, Texas and retired after 21 years of service. He very much loved and enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle and four wheelers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Shirley West and son, Jay West.
Survivors are his wife, Dovie West of Magnolia; daughters, Kim and Stephen Hilborn, II and Cyndi and Greg Leuschner both of Forney, Texas; sister, Peggie and Herman Homishak of Hot Springs; brother, Bert and Diana West of Marshall, Texas; granddaughters, Katie Hilborn and Amber West both of Forney, Texas; grandsons, Stephen Hilborn, III, Landon and Logan Leuschner all of Forney, Texas; step-son, Tim and Traci Foster of Magnolia; step-daughter, Angie and Kenneth Drummond of El Dorado; step-grandson, Brody Foster of Magnolia; step-granddaughter, Brooklyn Waller of El Dorado; brother-in-law, James Travis and Betty Dodson of El Dorado; uncles, Vergil and Emma Jackson of Willisville, George and Alice West of El Paso, Texas; nephews, Brody and Jamie West of Marshall, Texas, Jerry and Sheri Homishak of Hilton Head, South Carolina; nieces, Lori and Mark Gray of Hot Springs, Amy and Gary Fuller of Huntsville, Texas; numerous great nephews, nieces, and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Bro. David Watkins and Bro. Roger Dunlap officiating. Burial will follow at Willisville Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Gary Fuller, Brody West, Mark Gray, Russell Pyle, Gary Pyle, James Dodson, Johnny Morris, and Jim Berry. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Smiddy, Virgil Jackson, E.W. Hickman, and Dallas Police retirees.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
