Carmela Marie Cripps, 86, of Cardamon Drive, Virginia Beach, VA, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2013. Born in New Jersey, she was the widow of Gentry S. Cripps. She was a long-time member and nurse at St. Pius X Catholic Church. She was a competitive Bingo player, a diehard Redskins fan, an avid bowler and a member of the Navy Nurse Corps Association (N.N.C.A.). Carmela is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Davis and husband Ralph B. Davis, Jr.; son, Charles Scott Cripps; grandchildren, Ralph "Sonny" Davis III and wife Morgan Rezac, Callah Cripps Davis and boyfriend Brandon Terkeltaub, and Courtney Katherine Cripps; and her mother, Sharon Elizabeth Thompson. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel on Monday, May 20, 2013, from 6 to 7 p.m. The graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
