Memorial services for Carol O. Emmons of Albert Lea will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at First Lutheran Church, 301 W. Clark St. in Albert Lea. The Rev. Al Stoa will officiate. Friends may visit with family Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service, 2210 E. Main St. Private interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Emmons. Carol died at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea on Friday, May 25, 2012. She was 85 years old. Carol was born October 28, 1926 in Northwood, Iowa, the daughter of Oscar and Clara (Hengested) Egland. She graduated from Northwood High School and married Ellsworth D. Emmons on October 19, 1947 at Silver Lake Lutheran Church. Carol worked at Skinner Chamberlin for many years and later at the Skyline restaurant. Her most prized occupation was being a mother and grandmother to her two granddaughters Amy and Abby who she also cared for. Carol enjoyed her family, gardening, flowers and her prideful care of her lawn; she enjoyed travels including trips to the lake and Florida beaches and her pet dogs. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and spent the last 6 years as a resident of St. John's Lutheran Home. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Emmons and Bruce Bermel, Minnetonka; daughter Nancy and Todd Leach, Albert Lea; granddaughter Amy Leach, Fargo, ND; Abby Leach, Albert Lea; sister Elaine and Harold Knutson, Glenville, sister-in-law Elaine Emmons Rogness, Owatonna and sister-in-law Cleo Mathews of St. Louis, MO; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Ellsworth in 1983, her parents Oscar and Clara Egland and mother-in-law Mabel Emmons. She was a very giving and kind wife, mother and Nana and will be greatly missed by all.
