Carol V. Quandt, 85, of Harvey, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 14, 2011 at Marquette General Hospital. Miss Quandt was born on July 1, 1925 at the family homestead in Chocolay Township, one of five children of the late Max and Loretta L. (Jacob) Quandt. She resided there her entire life. Carol was a 1945 graduate of Graveraet High School and was a member of St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey. She spent a lifetime caring for her parents, siblings, family pets, and their garden. In her free time, Carol enjoyed sewing doll clothing and won two awards in doll dressing competition. Carol was humble of heart, loved everyone she met and was happy with simple pleasures in this world. Whenever she was not caring for her family, Carol could be found quietly praying the rosary. She is survived by one cousin, Marjorie Quandt of Chicago, IL; caregivers, Ginger Slattery, Bobbi Arvon, Ann Archibald, and Lezle Vonck; also her guardian and special friend, Deacon Warren Vonck. Preceding her in death besides her parents was a brother, Max "Buddy" Quandt; two sisters, Ellen Mae Quandt and Louise L. Quandt; also an infant brother. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 12 noon in St. Louis the King Catholic Church with the Rev. Benedetto Paris officiating and Deacons Warren Vonck and Gregg St. John assisting. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Mass in the church. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Members of Knights of Columbus St. Louis the King Council #6447 will act her escorts. Memorials are preferred to St. Louis the King Church Building Fund.
