Carole A. Somers, 49, Shawnee, Kansas passed away September 30, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM, Thursday, October 6, 2011 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kansas. A gathering of family and friends will follow the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Fond memories and condolences for the family may be left www.johnsoncountychapel.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Carole Somers Memorial Fund c/o Metcalf Bank. Carole's request was for a fund to be set up to help with her children's education.
Carole was born September 20, 1962 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in 1980 and The University of Kansas. She was a faithful volunteer, coach, and Field Marshall at Shawnee Soccer Club. Carole had many management roles, with her last position being with D.W. Newcomer's Sons. She was an active mother, staying very involved with her children, Samantha and Ryan and their many activities.
Survivors include her children, Samantha and Ryan Somers; parents, Jack and Ann Bittman of Waupaca, WI; brother, Tom (Lillian) Bittman of Newtown, CT; sisters, Sally Lynn (Neil) MacDonald of Newtown, CT and Katie Hough of Advance, NC; many nieces and nephews; her pet parrot, Humphrey; cat, Tiger; and dog, Lebron.
