Caroline Irene "Cis" Everson, 82, of Marquette, died Thursday morning, February 9, 2012 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming. Cis was born on April 25, 1929 in L'Anse, a daughter of the late Guy and Esther (Koppana) Selden and was a 1947 graduate of L'Anse High School. She and her family have lived in Marquette for nearly 60 years. Cis was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church where she sang in their choir for many years and was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved to cook, often creating her own recipes. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening, reading and working crossword puzzles, shopping with friends, photography, ceramics and even painting. During her retirement years, Cis and her husband, Elmer, enjoyed traveling together. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Elmer J. Everson who she married on June 26, 1948 at Sacred Heart Church in L'Anse; 4 children, Therese (David) Parsons of Charlevoix, MI, Richard (Roberta) Everson of St. Louis, MO, Daniel (Trish) Everson of Marquette and Sheryl (Ike) Dyksterhouse of Sheboygan, WI; 12 grandchildren, Maria (David) Bouslough, Katie (Chris) Untalan, Bradley, and Amber Parsons, Ben (Michelle), Nick (Leslie), Jeff (Kaneidra), and Becca Everson, Alysha (Kris) Sperry, Matthew, Danielle, and Jessica Dyksterhouse; 7 great grandchildren, Sophia, Safia, Leo, Joseph, Gabriel, Giulia, and Maxwell; 2 brothers, Ray (Ruth) Selden of L'Anse and Mike (Jean) Selden of Baraga; also several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents was a sister, Shirley Ross and a grandson, Dustin Parsons. Friends may call at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. where a parish prayer service will be recited at 5 p.m. Visitation will also take place on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Christopher Catholic Church where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating. Rite of Committal will take place in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in L'Anse. Mrs. Everson's grandchildren will act as her escorts. The Everson family would like to thank all the staff and caregivers at Marquette County Medical Care Facility for their exceptional care of Cis over the last eight years.
