Caroline McGillivray All Jacoby, age 67, of Little Rock, died Monday, June 4, 2007, after a long illness. She was born Sept. 23, 1939, in Columbia, South Carolina, to the late Mary Hay Stroman All and Fred Hunter All. Her summers growing up were spent happily in the low-country beach communities in and around Pawley's Island, South Carolina. She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of South Carolina, where she also earned a Masters Degree in clinical psychology. She moved to Little Rock in 1964 to take a position as a clinical psychologist at the Arkansas State Hospital. Caroline and Jon Eilif McHale Jacoby, originally of Dallas, were married in 1965 at Our Lady of The Holy Souls Catholic Church in Little Rock. Caroline was a highly accomplished gardener who loved working outdoors with the soil. She had a keen appreciation of poetry Dylan Thomas was a favorite and a sharp, quick wit that kept everyone laughing. She loved and cared for many cats throughout her life, and enjoyed interior design. Caroline was proud to be able to trace her mother's family back ten generations to colonial America and England. Her oldest known ancestors settled in Boston in the mid 1650s, and another branch of the family lived in Charleston, South Carolina, during the Revolutionary and Confederate Wars.
Caroline is survived by her husband of forty-two years, Jon Jacoby of Little Rock, and her daughters, Mary Barstow Jacoby Simpson of Washington, D.C.; Elizabeth Bampfield Jacoby Cook, and Susannah Swinton Jacoby, both of Little Rock, five grandchildren, and three sons-in-law. Funeral services will take place Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4002 N Rodney Parham Road in Little Rock.
