Carroll Arnold was born January 20, 1939 in Norfork, Arkansas, the youngest child of Orby and Gladys (Brown) Arnold. He peacefully left this world on April 26, 2010. He will be missed by his wife, Glenann (Rogers) Arnold of Greeley, CO; three children, Sheila Laird and husband Thomas of Magnolia, TX; Rhonda Morehead of Greeley and Gretchen Chadwick of Asheville, NC; one grandson, Joshua Morehead of Greeley and a brother, Don Arnold of Pacific Palisades, CA. His son, Kevin Haythe preceded him in death. Carroll was a lifelong journalist who wrote for newspapers in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois and Colorado. His career also included being communication manager for General Electric Company and director of information for Farm Credit System. For nine years, he and his wife owned and operated Pikes Peak Pen & Paper Company, a retail office supply business in Colorado Springs, CO. He was community relations director for West Plains Energy in Pueblo, CO and an adjunct professor at Pueblo Community College. Carroll was an active member of Sertoma Club in Colorado and participated in several political campaigns as a media advisor, writing campaign literature and television commercials. He also volunteered for Pikes Peak Harvest, a program to feed the hungry and homeless in Colorado Springs. He graduated from Parkview High School in Springfield, MO in 1957 and was active in class reunions and the class website. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Southwest Missouri State, where he belonged to Kappa Alpha Order, and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri. Mr. Arnold served in the US Army as an officer in the 7th Infantry Division in Korea and 6th Army Headquarters in San Francisco, CA. He enjoyed many hobbies, including photography, skiing and fishing. A memorial service will be held at Campbell United Methodist Church, 1747 East Republic Road, Springfield, MO on Thursday, April 29th at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow at University Plaza Hotel, 333 S. John Q. Hammons Pkwy in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 702 13th St., Greeley, CO 80631.
