LEDFORD, Catherine Demet, 71, passed away on Nov. 27, 2011 in Hendersonville, NC.

Originally from Racine, WI, Catherine moved to North Carolina in 1965 where she worked as a Stewardess for Braniff International Airlines, served as the Chief Nutritionist for Appalachian State University, and taught Family and Consumer Sciences for 30 years at AC Reynolds High School in Asheville.

In 1985, Catherine moved to the Clearwater area, becoming a dual resident of both Florida and North Carolina. She served with the Peace Corps in Guatemala, was an active member of the Daughters of Penelope, and was very involved in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Clearwater and Asheville.

Catherine is preceded in death by her parents, George and Pansy Demet; brother, Jimmy Demet; and cousin, Elizabeth Petrakis. She is survived by her nieces, Shannon Demet of Clearwater, FL, and Patricia Davis of East Bend, NC ; nephew, Stephen Demet of Winston-Salem, NC; great nephews and nieces, Daniel, Joshua and Brandy Demet of Clearwater, FL; and Megan, Scott, and Casey Davis of East Bend, NC; goddaughter, Juliaette (Jerry) Chamberlain; and great godchild William Chamberlain, all of Lake Mills, WI.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm on Sunday, Dec. 4th at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home. Services will be held 11am Monday, Dec. 5th at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Clearwater, 400 S. Old Coachman Road. Interment will follow in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.

Catherine loved people and had a kind and generous heart. Though she will be greatly missed by her family, we celebrate that she is now with the Lord.
