Mrs. Catherine M. (Miller) Baker, 90, of Chambersburg died at 8:55 A.M., Monday, December 19, 2011, in ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg. Born January 18, 1921 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frances and Ada (Oliphant) Miller. She spent most of her early life in the South Mountain area. Mrs. Baker graduated from Quincy High School with the class of 1938. She and her husband, the late Glenn E. Baker, were married in April 1944. They raised their family in South Mountain prior to moving to Chambersburg in 1968. Mr. Baker died on August 30, 1975. Mrs. Baker worked at the Samuel Dixon State Hospital in South Mountain for over 20 years. Following her retirement she cared for her mother, Ada Miller, who passed away in 1988. She was a member of the South Mountain Bible Church for over 80 years, where her love for Jesus Christ was demonstrated through her passion for the missions program. She taught girl's Sunday school and was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader for many years. She was also very active in Child Evangelism Fellowship in Waynesboro. Mrs. Baker had a gift for hospitality and loved entertaining in her home. She is survived by two children, Terry Baker and his wife Sharon of New Holland, PA, and Cheryl McCleary and her husband Denton of Fayetteville, PA; three grandchildren, Christine Perham, Michelle Crail, and Marc McCleary; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lorraine Baumunk; and one brother, Charles Clifford Miller. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 27, 2011, in South Mountain Bible Church, 11275 South Mountain Road, Fayetteville. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Tuesday morning, in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Child Evangelism Fellowship of Franklin County, 45 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA, 17268.
