Mrs. Catherine Jean (Sommer) Miller, 55, of 9342 Gap Road, Waynesboro, PA, died at 2:04 P.M. Monday, June 28, 2010 in the Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, PA. She was born on July 18, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA; she was the daughter of the late Ruth (Timm) Helfer and raised by her step father the late Charles Helfer. She lived her early life in Philadelphia and Pine Hill, NJ. Mrs. Miller graduated from Olney High School in Philadelphia with the class of 1972. She and her husband, Russell B. Miller, were married on March 12, 1977 in Philadelphia. Prior to moving here she worked at a real estate office as a bookkeeper, after moving to Waynesboro, she was a staff assistant at Mont Alto Campus of Penn State University in the Administration Department for the past 18 years. While living in Philadelphia they attended a Presbyterian church, after moving to this area, they attended Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro. Mrs. Miller enjoyed computers and was an avid sports fan. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Jon E. Miller, wife Debra of Holland, PA, Crystal A. Baumgarten husband James of Waynesboro, three grandchildren, Jason B. Miller, Dean A. Miller and Isabella C. Baumgarten, two sisters, Linda Troutman of Clementon, NJ, Deborah Redrow of Pine Hill, NJ, two brothers, Robert Helfer of Philadelphia, Charles "Chuck" Spurr of Pine Hill, NJ and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, July 2, 2010 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro with Rev. Dr. Paul L. Yeun officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services in the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Harrisburg Branch of the Lupus Foundation of PA, 5405 Jonestown Road, Suite #102, Harrisburg, PA 17112 or American Cancer Society, 384 Floral Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
