Catherine (D’Antonio) Taverna, 98, of Avon, wife of the late George Taverna, died Sunday, (April 10, 2011) at John Dempsey Hospital. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Giro and Ausilia (Coumo) D’Antonio. Before moving to Avon, she lived in San Carlos, CA, Las Vegas, NV, and San Antonio, TX. Talented and creative, Catherine enjoyed sewing and baking. She leaves her daughter, Kathleen Apuzzo and her husband Lawrence of Avon; her son, Richard D. Taverna, DDS and his wife Melanie of San Antonio, TX; six grandchildren, Laureen Wood and her husband Boyd, Gayle Dillman and her husband Jeffrey, Patrice McGregor and her husband Scott, Darin Taverna, PhD, Sean Taverna, PhD, and Douglas Taverna; and six great grandchildren, Jessica and her husband Patrick, Melissa, Tyler, Cassandra, Christopher, and Erica.
