COLUMBIA Memorial service for Cecil Glenn Ford, 71, will be held 4:00 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2012, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The family will receive family and friends immediately following the service at the Marr's home, 6500 Queens Way Drive, Columbia SC 29209.
Cecil Glenn Ford, loving husband, father and a devoted "PopPop", died Monday, January 9, 2012. Born August 22, 1940, in Clover, he was a son of the late Paul Glenn and Edna Johnson Ford. Mr. Ford graduated from the University of Georgia and received his MBA from the University of South Carolina. He was a member of the U.S. Army for two years, U.S. Army Reserves for two years and a professor in the business department at Midlands Technical College for 37 years. Mr. Ford was of the Presbyterian faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the lake, but above all else, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons. Mr. Ford was quick to lend a helping hand to anyone and lived the life philosophy of "what's mine is yours, if you need it." He will be greatly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Pendleton Ford; daughters, Leigh Ford Nunn and husband, James Barry Nunn III, Elizabeth Kate Marr and husband, Christopher Rocco Marr; grandsons, James Barry Nunn IV and Ford Pendleton Nunn, Christopher Braxton Marr, Coleman Glenn Marr, all of Columbia; and brother, Horace P. Ford and wife, Jerrie S. Ford, of Mt. Pleasant.
Memorials may be made to Ducks Unlimited, Inc., One Waterfowl Way, Memphis TN 38120 or The American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
