Cecil E. Ray, 96, of Lubbock passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2010. He was born February 28, 1914 in Coleman, Texas to Isaac Willis and Agnes Mary (Mitchell) Ray. He graduated from Content High School in Runnells County and moved to Lubbock in 1939. Cecil served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Maud Alice Tyson April 7, 1940 in Novice, Texas. She preceded him in death on October 15, 1977. Cecil worked for Baldridge Bakery for 40 years before retiring. He was a longtime member of the Oakwood United Methodist Church.
He is survived by two sisters, Grace Killingsworth of Del Rio and Opal Henson of Monahans; two brothers, James A. “Butch” Ray of Lubbock and Ronold Ray of Monahans; several nieces & nephews; and very dear lifelong friends, the Foster family. He was preceded in death by a sister; and four brothers.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Sanders Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wendell Horn officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
