Chad Hultgren, 15, went to heaven on Saturday, October 7, 2006. Chad was born on November 16, 1990, and lived all of his life in New Carlisle, Indiana. Chad spent his pre-teen years playing basketball, baseball and riding his scooter and bike. He spent many years in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. As he got into his teen years, he joined a bowling league for many years and was a lover of music playing his keyboard at home and his trumpet at school in the high school marching band. He liked playing video games with his friends but most of all, he loved being outdoors. He could be seen walking or riding his bike daily through the town of New Carlisle. His favorite hangout was at the library where he met friends and either spent time on the computers or played ball on the lawn outside. Chad always had the ability to bring a smile to your face and a warm feeling to your heart. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Chads surviving family includes his mother and stepfather, Sandy and Ron Colpitts; his brother and best friend, Tony Hultgren; his father, Al Hultgren of Rolling Prairie, Indiana; his maternal grandmother, Delores Smith of New Carlisle, Indiana; his paternal grandmother, Judy Hultgren of Rolling Prairie, Indiana; his aunt Sue and uncle Jim Moffitt of New Carlisle, Indiana; his uncle Ron and aunt Cinda Hinshaw of Rolling Prairie, Indiana; his aunt Hollie Hines of Rolling Prairie, Indiana; his aunt Stephanie and uncle Scott of Three Oaks, Michigan; his uncle Bill and aunt Angie of Southport, Florida. He was blessed with many wonderful cousins, Bill Moffitt of New Carlisle, Indiana; Abby and Gary Rodich of New Carlisle, Indiana, Candice, Adam and Andy Hinshaw of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, Laina Hines of Rolling Prairie, Indiana; Noah and Zach Colpitts of Three Oaks, Michigan and Ryan Colpitts of Florida. Chad was preceded in death by Papa Carol Smith and his grandfather, Albert Hultgren, Sr.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 12, 2006 from 4:00-8:00 PM in the New Carlisle Wesleyan Church, 32645 Early Road. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday in the church. Private burial will take place. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chad Hultgren Memorial Library Fund (for the purchase of computers) c/o 1st Source Bank, 848 W. Michigan Street, New Carlisle, Indiana 46552, account #530445410.

IT IS NOT LENGTH OF LIFE, BUT DEPTH OF LIFE. HE JUMPED INTO LIFE AND NEVER TOUCHED BOTTOM.

WHEN GOD CALLS CHILDREN TO DWELL WITH HIM ABOVE, WE MORTALS SOMETIMES QUESTION THE WISDOM OF HIS LOVE. FOR NO HEARTACHE COMPARES WITH THE DEATH OF ONE SMALL CHILD WHO DOES SO MUCH TO MAKE OUR WORLD SEEM WONDERFUL AND MILD. PERHAPS GOD TIRES OF CALLING THE AGED TO HIS FOLD SO HE PICKS A ROSEBUD BEFORE IT CAN GROW OLD. GOD KNOWS HOW MUCH WE NEED THEM SO HE TAKES BUT A FEW TO MAKE THE LAND OF HEAVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL TO VIEW. BELIEVING THIS IS DIFFICULT STILL SOMEHOW WE MUST TRY. THE SADDEST WORD MANKIND KNOWS WILL ALWAYS BE GOODBYE. SO WHEN A LITTLE CHILD DEPARTS, WE WHO ARE LEFT BEHIND MUST REALIZE GOD LOVES CHILDREN FOR ANGELS ARE HARD TO FIND.
