Chareen Carr Urquhart, age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Quentin Fisk Urquhart, Sr., her parents, Charlotte Stone Carr and Gerald Carr, and her siblings, Alton Carr, Burneice Carr, Glenn Carr and Shirley Carr. She is survived by her sons, Quentin Fisk Urquhart, Jr. (Anne) and David Gregory Carr Urquhart, and her daughter, Elise Urquhart Kiser (Kevin), all of New Orleans, La. "Char," as she was known by her family and close friends, was the grandmother of Katherine Harlow Urquhart, Elizabeth Trist Urquhart, Kelsey Urquhart Kiser, Laine Baird Kiser and Brooks Jardet Kiser. She is also survived by her brother, Frank Carr, of Dallas, Texas. Chareen was born in Ottawa, Canada in 1930 and remained a proud Canadian citizen throughout her life. She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy for Young Ladies in Toronto, Canada in 1948, attended college at the University of Toronto, the Universidad de México in Mexico City and at the Sorbonne in Paris, France. After completing her formal education, she worked as a flight attendant for TACA Airlines travelling throughout Central America and Mexico. After marrying and moving to New Orleans in the late 1950's, Chareen became actively involved in many community organizations and was also an avid tennis player at the New Orleans Lawn Tennis Club. She was a gifted seamstress, loved to travel and had a keen interest in history. At Chareen's request, there will be a private memorial and burial later this year in Norway Bay, Canada, where she spent many wonderful summers during her lifetime. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, her family gratefully requests memorials in Chareen's name to Catholic Charities Archdioceses of New Orleans, 1000 Howard Avenue, Suite 1000, New Orleans, LA 70113.
