Charles Anthony Mulranen, 90, of Norwood, on September 2, 2010 at Vitas at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital after a three year struggle with cancer. He remained peaceful, without pain, and mentally alert to the end, allowing many graced moments with family and friends. He was born August 24, 1920 in the Overbrook area of Philadelphia the son of the late Charles and Helen (nee O'Connor) Mulranen. Charles was a graduate of Overbrook High School and Temple University where he received his degree in Business. He worked for 41 years for the Pennsylvania Railroad/Penn Central/Conrail retiring in 1982. Mr. Mulranen was the Prefect of the Third Order of St. Francis and was a CCD teacher and lector at St. Gabriel Church of Norwood. He also ran a small printing business and was a piano tuner. Charles had a tremendous love for God and his faith which he sought to spread to all lives he touched. In addition to his parents he was also blessed with six children who died in early infancy. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Angela T. (nee Bier) Mulranen whom he met in 1945 while working in Washington DC; also asked to be blessed with a large family he is also survived by six children Mary C. Walkowiak-Roberts (Mike), Joseph C. Mulranen (Linda), Fr. Francis Mulranen, Peter J. Mulranen (Diane), Stephen P. Mulranen (Denise) and Therese M. McNelly; also survived by his eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invitedt to his visitation Saturday after 9am at the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home 301 Chester Pike, Norwood. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday 12noon in the Church of St. Gabriel, Mohawk Ave., Norwood. Interment will follow in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
