CHARLES FRANKLIN BYRNE, age 88 of Manassas, Virginia died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at his home.

Mr. Byrne was born August 24, 1920 in Loudoun County, Virginia. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Manassas and a U.S. Army Veteran having served during World War II for three years and one month and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was the last one left of 19 children born to the late James Franklin and Emma L. Rutter Byrne.

He was also preceded in death by his loving wife Evelyn Margaret Byrne.

Survivors include four children, Charles Byrne, Jr. and wife Peggy of Manassas, Virginia, Vivian Wright and husband Dewey of Gainesville, Virginia, Michael Byrne and wife Anita of Fairfax, Virginia and Dwight Byrne and wife Roxanne of Columbia, South Carolina; eight grandchildren, Donna Byrne, Matt Byrne, Melinda Austin, Troy Wright, Mindy Wright, Tesha Byrne, Alex Byrne and Brian Byrne and three great grandchildren, Katherine Grace Wright, Charles Christian Wright and Gabriel Byrne.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 & 7:00-9:00 P.M. Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 30, 2009 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 8275 Barrett Drive, Manassas with Pastor Eugene Zorbas officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Leesburg, Virginia

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of flowers or contributions to Tabernacle Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1237, Manassas, Virginia 20108 in memory of Charles Franklin Byrne.
