BROWN - Charles H. Brown, age 82, a thirty seven year resident of Albuquerque, passed away while spending the last 6 months of his life in Nashville, TN. He is survived by his sons Michael and wife Kim of Florida and Chris and wife Carolyn of Nashville; one granddaughter, Shelby of Florida. Charlie was born in Maquoketa, IA to Frederick F. and Viola G. Brown. As a young boy growing up, his family moved to Knoxville, TN where he completed his primary education. After graduating High School, he was granted a football scholarship from Southern Louisiana University in Lafayette, received a Bachelors Degree in Horticulture, and in 1954 was commissioned as a U.S. Air Force Officer. After completing undergraduate pilot training and receiving his first assignment to Sacramento, CA, he met his soon to be wife Edna "Mickey" C. Michelotti and they married two years later. Further assignments included Alaska where his first son Michael was born; and Albuquerque, NM where his second son Chris was born. Charles willfully accepted orders to the war in Vietnam and returned 18 months having spent countless hours as an Air Operations Center Coordinator in Da Nang and flying close Air Support missions over enemy territory in a OV -10 Bronco. After 24 years of honorable service, Charles retired from the United States Air Force as a Maintenance Officer at McGuire, AFB, NJ. The family settled back in Albuquerque, NM where he enthusiastically began a new career as a Real Estate Agent, first with Lincoln Realty and later with Hooten & Stahl. As an entrepreneur he ventured out on his own in the property management business running "Guardian Residential Management" for over 20 years. He had a love for fishing, horseback riding, and spent many volunteer hours with the Albuquerque Police Department. He had a very giving spirit, often helping individuals and charities with personal service or contributions. We have lost a truly decent and good man and he will be dearly missed. Friends may visit on Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at French - Wyoming Chapel. A Celebration of Charlie's life will be held on Friday, December 2, 2011, 11:00 a.m., at French - Wyoming Chapel. Interment with full military honors will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 pm. Flowers will be accepted at the mortuary or memorial contributions may be made in Charlie's name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
