Charles J. Christine, 87, of White Township, Belvidere, NJ, passed away peacefully at Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, NJ on Sunday, March 13, 2011. Born on March 28, 1923 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was the son of the late Charles and Lilly Mae Parr Christine. Mr. Christine was a crossing guard for the Town of Belvidere for many years at the corner of Market and Water Streets. Mr. Christine served in the Army during WWII in the 974th Field Artillery Battalion. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was proud to have served under General Patton. Mr. Christine was a member of the Good Will Fire Company, Belvidere, the Warren County Fire Police, and the American Legion, Carl D. Archer Post 528, White Township, NJ. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Margaret Kachline Christine; three sons, Robert Christine of Belvidere, NJ, William Christine and his wife Phyllis of Hiawassee, GA, and James Christine and his wife Laura of Belvidere, NJ; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, George Christine; two sisters, Alberta Schmidt and Sarah Rutt. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made in his memory to the Oxford Emergency Squad, 76 Academy Street, oxford, NJ 07863, Good Will Fire Company, 689 Water Street, Belvidere, NJ 07823 or The First Presbyterian Church of Oxford at Hazen, P.O.
