A Celebration of Life for Charles John Kretzer, 78, of Caldwell is set for 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 25, 2011, at Cooks Point United Methodist Church. Mr. Kretzer passed away on February 23, 2011 at St. Joseph's Regional Health Center in Bryan, Texas. Charles was born March 16, 1932 to Richard George Kretzer and Rosie (Duewall) Kretzer in Cooks Point, Texas. He married Hulene (Heldmann) Kretzer on December 9, 1961. Charles attended San Antonio Prairie School, and was a farmer all of his life. He was a member of Cooks Point United Methodist Church where he served on several church boards. He was instrumental in organizing the Burleson County Farm Bureau. He also served on the Caldwell Independent School Board and was always active in civic and educational functions. In his free time he could be found at home restoring and collecting rare John Deere 2-cylinder tractors. Survivors include his wife Hulene Kretzer of Caldwell, son; Richard Kretzer of Austin, sister; Billie Lauderdale of Caldwell, brother and sister-in-law; Bernard & Joy Kretzer of Caldwell, brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Darwood & Jo Heldman of Magnolia, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family requests memorials are made to the Cooks Point United Methodist Church, 4902 E. State Hwy. 21, Caldwell, Texas 77836.
