Reames, Charles J. " Chuck " 78, of Clearwater, Florida passed away Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, Florida.
He was born in New Orleans, LA. on August 22,1933 and at the age of 16 he joined the Marine Corps and served 3 years( 1950- 1953 ) during the Korean War. After the war he tried civilian life but found the military to be his calling and in 1954 he joined the Air Force and served his country (1954- 1974 ) until he was honorably discharged with the rank of Master Sergeant in 1974. His tour in Viet Nam earned him a Bronze Star and he was proud of the contribution he made to his country during his years of service.
Upon his discharge from the Air Force, Chuck moved to Lake City,Florida and worked in the telecommunications field. In 1979 he and his family relocated to Clearwater, Florida where he held the position of maintenance supervisor at Sea Towers, a large condominium complex in Madeira Beach.Florida. He worked there for 10 years and retired in 1998.
He enjoyed bowling with his friends and he especially enjoyed spending time with his two best friends Sassy and Buddy, Golden Retrievers who were adopted from a rescue organization. Chuck deeply loved Sassy and Buddy and enjoyed his daily walks with them.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Dana; daughters, Christina Turner; Deanna Martinez; Brenda Hernaez and Charlene Upton; sons, Charles Reames and David Reames; grandchildren, Jaclynn and Christopher Brockway; Delanie and Bryan Sanford; Crystal Smith; Amanda Hernaez; Corie and Cody.
The funeral service will be held at Heritage United Methodist Church, 2680 Landmark Drive, Clearwater, Florida at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 10,2011. Burial will follow at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Chucks memory to Golden Rescue Inc. P.O. Box 770291 Naples, Florida 34107. www.GRINinc.org This organization rescues Goldens throughout the Southeastern United States, especially seniors and special needs Goldens. Chuck would be honored to have donations made in his memory.
