Funeral services to celebrate the life of Charles C. Lawton, 83, a resident of Davenport will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Christian Center Church, 2103 W. 3rd Street, Davenport. The Reverend David Revelle will officiate. The family will greet friends Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
The Halligan – McCabe – DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Charles Curtis Lawton was born March, 30, 1929 in Austin, Minnesota, a son of, George C. and Ethel Marie (Bullis) Lawton. He graduated from the former Davenport High School.
Mr. Lawton had been a meat cutter by trade and had been owner operator of Lawton's Market for thirty-five years. After this he assisted as a meat cutter for White's Market.
Charlie was proud to be a member of the church congregation and he found great comfort from the friendships he formed there.
Memorials can be made to the Christian Center Church.
Survivors include sons, James Lawton, Davenport, Michael (Mercedes) Rosing, Davenport, Willis Rosing, South Carolina; 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren; and brothers, George (Kay) Lawton, Walcott, Iowa and Dean (Linda) Lawton, Davenport.
