Charles M. Duke Jr.
1929 - 2011
Charles has entered eternal life in heaven to be with our Heavenly Father , October 11, 2011. He passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife, Margarita. During his last days he was surrounded by the blessing of family and friends.
Charles was born February 16, 1929 in Marfa, Texas. He served in the United States Air Force and United States Army combined during World War II and was discharged Honorably as the rank of Sergeant. He received various Medals with the National Defense Service, Army OCC. and good conducts. His civil service and his Military Service were more than 40 yrs combined.
His Civil Service career began at Naval Construction Battalion Center in 1959, as a Guard in Law Enforcement Operations. In 1960, he transferred to Pacific Missile Range, Point Mugu. In 1961, he was promoted to Manager of Supply Department. In 1990, he retired.
In his leisure time he enjoyed spending time with his wife, Margarita. He is best remembered sitting in his rocker talking to his grandchildren about his military days.
Charles is survived by his wife of 36 yrs., Margarita Duke, children Betty Villarreal (Raymond), Don, Dave, Curt and Denise Duke, grandchildren Reanna, Bailey, Nicolas, Raymond Villarreal, Emily Ponce, Danny & Jared Sproul, Brian, Eric, Christine, Anthony, Curt & Kathyrne Duke, brother Deacon Oscar Duke, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Charles will be from 4 to 8 p.m. with evening Vigil / Rosary starting at 6:30 p.m., on Monday, October 24, at Santa Clara Mortuary, 2370 North H St., Oxnard 93036. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 25, at St. Anthony Church, 2511 South C St., Oxnard.
