On May 7, 2011, Sonny rejoined his sweetheart, Karen, in Heaven.
Sonny Stafford was born August 6, 1934 in Silt, Colorado. He was proud to be raised by parents, Frank and Lucy Stafford. At a young age they moved to Salt Lake where he received his education.
Sonny served his country in the US Army, 11th Airborne during the Korean Conflict, where he received a distinguished Unit Citation and was honorably discharged.
On March 22, 1957 he married his sweetheart Karen Hacking. Dad worked for Mountain Bell for over 26 years, retiring in 1987. He loved coaching and playing baseball and spent many years doing both. He loved fishing, camping and boating.
Survived by his son, Kelly Stafford; daughters, Patti Hart and Janice (Val) Linford; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill and Doug and sister, Linda. Preceded in death by his wife; parents and sister, Alice.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 14th, 1:00 p.m. at Cottonwood Memorial Mortuary, 4670 So. Highland Dr. with a gathering one hour prior to services. Interment, Holladay Memorial Park. On-line condolences at www.memorialutah.com.
