Charles Walter "Chuck" Sanders, 80, passed away February 10, 2010 in Fort Collins. He was born January 17, 1930 in Treece, Kansas. Chuck was raised in Fort Collins, graduating from Fort Collins High School in 1948. He went on to attend Colorado State University. Chuck proudly joined the United States Marines Corps in 1949 and served his country in the Korean War. He was proud to be a survivor of the Chosin Reservoir battle. He married Marold J. Thompson from Inglewood, CA in 1959, just recently celebrating their 50th anniversary with a family cruise. They lived in Loveland and Fort Collins where together they raised three children, Cary, Carolyn and Cory. Chuck made a living in the car business working for many different dealerships in Fort Collins. He retired in 1991. Chuck's interests included fishing, golf, pool, bowling and poker. Chuck and Marold enjoyed any time spent with family and meeting weekly with their many friends for dinner. His contagious laugh was undeniable and filled the room and hearts of all those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Marold; son Cary (Rachel) Sanders; daughter Carolyn Sanders both of Fort Collins; son Cory (Lisa) Sanders of Erie, CO; and granddaughters Nicole, Casey, Charly and Jacy. He was preceded in death by his brother (Ben Sanders) and is survived by two sisters. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service with military honors at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 2:00pm. A reception will follow the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice or Redeemer Lutheran Church in care of Resthaven Funeral Home, 8426 S. Hwy. 287, Ft. Collins, CO. 80525
