Mrs. Charlotte (Andrews) Ford, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully at 100 years old at Wingate of Reading on Wednesday evening, January 25, 2012.
Charlotte was born on September 6, 1911, in Boston, a daughter of the late Robert A. Andrews and Margaret (Cavanagh) Andrews.
Raised and educated in Dorchester, Charlotte was a longtime member of the Crescendo Club in Boston. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge, and served as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader in Melrose for many years. A longtime supporter of the Melrose Symphony Orchestra, she loved attending the yearly concerts. She will be remembered for her passion for genealogy and as a great baker, and sewer.
Charlotte was the beloved wife of the late Foster S. Ford, Jr. with whom she shared 53 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Priscilla F. Hunt and her husband Lynn of Billerica, and Robert Ford and his wife Iris of Methuen. Dear sister of the late Margaret Potter. Cherished grandmother of Sylvia McKinney of Malden, Mike Kraus of Lynn, Daniela Kraus of Lynn and Melissa Kraus of Woburn. Loving great-grandmother of Jaylina, Jevon, Jada, Antonio, Iris, Jamar, and Jezmani. Dear great-great grandmother of Jianna, and Nickeyla. Caring aunt of Ray Potter of Falls Church, VA and Robert Potter of Williamsville, NY.
Relatives and friends will honor and remember Charlotte's life by gathering for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Sunday, January 29 from 2-6 PM and on Monday morning at the First United Methodist Church, 645 Main St., Melrose where her Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10 AM. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester. Gifts in her memory may be made to the Memorial Fund at the Church.
