Funeral services for Cheryl Archambault, 53, of Eagle Butte, will be Saturday, July 14 at 10:00AM, MDT, at St. John's Episcopal Church, Eagle Butte, with Mother Margaret Watson and Reverend Norman Blue Coat officiating. Burial will follow at the UCC Cemetery, La Plante. Casketbearers were Daryl Scott, Arnold "Pookie" Provencial, Jr., James "Cow" Skinner, Waylon Phillips, Sam Eagle Horse, Shondo Talks, Dupris "Duckman" Traversie, Taryn Ducheneaux and Oscar Archambault. Meet at the 4-mile Jct. at 4:00 PM Friday to process to the church for an all-night wake with services beginning at 7:00PM. Cheryl passed away July 5, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Cheryl Eileen Johnson was born May 24, 1959 at Eagle Butte, SD to Arlene D. Scott of La Plante, SD. Her grandparents, Grover and Adelia (Birdnecklace) Scott raised her and her two siblings, Lydia and Aaron on Virgin Creek, SD. Having been raised by her grandpa Grover and grandma Adelia, Cheryl learned to speak and understand our Lakota language. She also learned the meanings of love, God, family and hard work.

Cheryl attended school in Eagle Butte where she excelled in track and cross-country This is where she met her first true love whom she later married. To this union they had three children, Mike, Kimberly and Geri Marie Archambault. Cheryl was also a lab technician for a number of years, where she was happy and proud to serve her Lakota people during their times of medical need. During her spare time she loved to do beadwork and go to rummage sales.

Cheryl lived everyday like it was her last, living, loving and laughing until the recent days of her passing. She loved, cared and always thought of her closest family and friends. Cheryl is greatly loved and will be sadly missed.

Cheryl is survived by her eldest son, Mike Archambault, Eagle Butte; daughters, Kimberly Archambault, Eagle Butte, Geri Archambault, Texas and Memeree Different Horse, Colman, SD, all blessings of God; sisters, Lydia Johnson, Rapid City, SD and Trisha Johnson, Eagle Butte; a brother, Aaron Johnson, Eagle Butte; aunts, Jean Roberts, La Plant, SD, Marlene Bowker & Andrea Robideaux, Swiftbird, SD, Carol Dupris, Eagle Butte, Leatrice Penny, Eagle Butte, Deloris High Elk, Green Grass, SD, Majel Del Rio, Eagle Butte, and Evelyn Veaux, La Plant, SD; uncles, Mike "Balls Bowker, Vern Traversie & Jake Traversie and any other aunts and uncles that I may have forgotten, my apologies. nieces, Kendall Skinner, Shelly Pretty Weasel, Kelli, Sierra, Lynette, Lisa, Marina and Erin Johnson; nephews, Daryl Scott, Arnold "Pookie" Provencial, Jr., Ira Middletent, Louie Pretty Weasel, James "Cowboy" Skinner, Waylon Johnson and any other nephews and cousins I may have forgotten, again my apologies.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her grandparents, Grover Scott and Adelia Birdnecklace; mother, Arlene D. Scott; baby brother, Clayton Johnson; cousins, Dugan Scott, Herman "Bigtime" Pretty Weasel and Richard "Ricky" Birdnecklace; aunt, Beverly Scott; nephew, Franco Johnson; baby daughter, LaRae Lee Archambault; grandson, "Bullittman" Archambault & granddaughter, "Chubz" Archambault.
