The Sunset of a Loving Wife and Devoted Mother Cheryl Brown was born on February 6, 1949 to the late Susie Mae (Boyd) Robinson and Milton T. Smith in Paterson, New Jersey where she attended Public School Number 4 and John F. Kennedy High School. She was a faithful member of Canaan Baptist Church in Paterson, NJ. Cheryl worked for the City of Paterson Community Development Department for over fifteen years until her retirement in 2011. During Cheryl's lifetime she dedicated her time to the youth of the Paterson Recreational Department. She influenced both youth and adults throughout her lifetime. Everyone who knew Cheryl understood her passion for serving the youth in our community, which she continued to do until passing. Cheryl's other hobbies included reading books, recreational sports, traveling, and of course shopping. Cheryl returned to the loving arms of the Lord on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Philadelphia, PA, surrounded by her family. Cheryl was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Joe Brown; eight brothers, Joseph, Carl, Howard and Clarence Robinson, Robert, Leroy, Paul and Alfred Smith; one sister, Bernice Clayton; seven brothers-in-law, Alan Clayton, Willie, Jr., Charles "Tommy", Eddie, Leon, Johnny and Sherry Parks; three sisters-in-law, Arlean Brown, Anaka Chatman and Vera Robinson.Cheryl leaves to cherish her memories: two devoted sons, Jamal Brown and Charles Brown of Paterson, NJ; one daughter-in-law, Denise Brown of Paterson, NJ; four beautiful grandchildren, Cha'liya, Jamal, Damian and Ariyana; three brothers, Milton (Barbara) Robinson, Terry (Lawanda) Robinson and Mark (Stacey) Robinson; three sisters, Juanita (Taft) Seegers, Cynthia Robinson and Ethel Ward; five brothers-in-law, Willie (Laura Jean) Seabrooks, Sr., Jimmy Seabrooks, Sr. and Kenny Parks all of Paterson, NJ, Donald (Mabel) Parks of Newark, NJ and Ronald Parks of Buffalo, New York; six sisters-in-law, Delores Robinson, Marie Robinson, Patricia Lillian Anderson and Sharon Parks all of Paterson, NJ, Leslie Thomas of Houston, Texas and Jacqueline Smith; one aunt, Walter Lee Williams of Paterson, NJ; four godchildren, Samuel White, Randell White, Karim York and Kimberly York; three devoted nieces, Monica Seegers-Thomas, Katherine Seegers- Stradford and Levette Brown-Battle; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends who loved her dearly.
