CHESTER ALLEN SCHERER

Mr. Chester Allen Scherer, 93, died August 29, 2009 at his home in Vero Beach.

He was born in West Norriton, PA and lived in Vero Beach for 8 years coming from Sebastian, FL.

Mr. Scherer worked for the Philadelphia Electric Company for 31 years before his retirement in 1975.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Scherer was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach; a member of Knights of Columbus Council 5629; past Grand Knight and served two terms as Faithful Navigator.

Survivors include his wife, Rosanne Scherer of Vero Beach; sons, Paul R. Scherer of San Jose, CA, Stephen C. Scherer of Port St. Lucie, FL, Andrew C. Scherer of Prairieville, LA, Chester R. Scherer of Gray, TN, Philip M. Scherer of Millerton, PA and Richard L. Scherer of Port Saint Lucie; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Scherer was preceded in death by his son, John J. Scherer.

SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 pm on September 2, 2009 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church. Interment will be in Fountainhead Memorial Park.
