Deacon Chester Lee Brockington was born on August 14, 1949 in Florence, South Carolina. He was the son of James and Leola Mitchell Brockington. He departed this life on Monday, July 9, 2012 after an illness. Chester was a 1967 graduate of Wilson High School. He was employed with Smurfit Stone formerly known as Stone Container for over ten years. Chester was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, Hwy 76. In 2007, he was ordained as a Deacon. Chester had three main purposes that kept him focused in life and they were God, his wife, and his children. At an early age, he began working at the Florence Country Club and took on the huge responsibility of helping his mom take care of his siblings. Chester was a wonderful and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor. He took pride in taking care of his family. He was united in marriage to Noville Abraham Brockington. He loved his wife unconditionally and thanked God for blessing him with a wife like her. They enjoyed church and spending time with their family. While raising his children he instilled in his sons the ethics of hard work and taking care of their families; there was no excuse for a man to not take care of his family. He taught his daughter what it meant for a man to own up to his responsibility and take care of a wife and children. He also instilled in his children to simply work hard for what you want. Chester loved his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Noville Abraham Brockington. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents, James "Son" and Leola Mitchell Brockington; a father and mother-in-law, Scipio and Isanora Kelly Abraham; three brothers, LeVan Brockington, David Mitchell, and Gilbert Brockington; and two sisters, Diane Brockington and Doris Davis.
