Chuen Lock Cheung of Kansas City, Missouri passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011.
He was born in Shandong, China on February 13, 1913. He began his culinary training in China at the age of 16. He further developed his skills as a head chef working in Hong Kong. He has been married to his beloved wife, Lap Kuk Chow, for 64 years. Together, they have five children.
He came to the United States in 1969. After working as a head chef in Washington DC and New York, he moved his family to Kansas City, Missouri in 1971 where he established Princess Garden Chinese restaurant.
Princess Garden has been a thriving restaurant since its doors opened 40 years ago. It has continually been one of the best Chinese restaurants in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Much of the success is attributed to Chuen Lock Chang's signature dishes and recipes, such as the Peking Duck, Handmade Noodles, etc. Many patrons and members of the community have become lifelong friends of Chuen and the family.
Apart from being a successful restaurateur and respected businessman, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
