SAUGUS – Mrs. Claire E. (Smith) Kane, 83 years, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 17th, surrounded by her loving and attentive family. She was the wife of the late Patrick J. Kane.
A lifelong resident of Saugus, she was the daughter of the late James and Marion (Huckins) Smith. She was a 1946 graduate of Saugus High School and former Saugus High School football cheerleader. Prior to starting her family Mrs. Kane worked at Saugus Town Hall. In later years she worked as a secretary for Thomas E. Snowden, Inc. retiring at the age of 79. She was a devoted homemaker and avid reader. Mrs. Kane was an active member of St. Margaret's Church.
Mrs. Kane leaves five daughters, Marcia Walsh & her husband Richard of Peabody, Patricia Donovan of Middleton & her late husband Michael, Kathleen Nicholson & her husband Tim of Saugus, Janice Ferraro & her husband Raymond of Saugus, Priscilla Costa & her husband Mario of Lynnfield; one son, Michael Kane of Saugus; one brother, James Smith of Boston; 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Jean Buckley.
In lieu of flowers donations in Mrs. Kane's memory may be made to St Margaret's Church, 431 Lincoln Ave, Saugus, MA 01906 or the Hospice of the North Shore and Greater Boston, 75 Sylvan St. Suite 102-B, Danvers, MA 01923.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Funeral from the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., SAUGUS on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Margaret's Church, 431 Lincoln Ave., Saugus at 10:30 a.m. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment Riverside Cemetery, Saugus.
