Clara Bernice Lawson, 95, passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, February 07, 2012 at Maumelle Health and Rehab. Mrs. Lawson was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, affectionately known as "Aunt Bunny" to family and friends. Mrs. Lawson was born on October 10th, 1916 on her family's farm outside of Warren, AR.
She and her late husband, Vance, spent much of their marriage in Greenwood, MS where they were active members of First Presbyterian Church where she taught in the Children's Sunday School and was Presbyterian Woman of the Year, 1993 for her faithful service in the Women's Ministry. She was also a retired dental assistant to Dr. Thad Andrews. Since moving to Maumelle in 2002, Mrs. Lawson was active in the Dorcas Sunday School class at Cedar Heights Baptist Church and she leaves behind a legacy as a woman who loved those around her deeply. She loved to cook, to garden, sew and especially loved to fish.
Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Vance Lawson; brothers, Robert and Hollis DeArmond; sister, Atheleen Holland and nephews, Michael and David DeArmond. She is survived by her son, Robert Lawson; two grandchildren, Amiel and Sarah Lawson; sister, Leola Burnham; sister-in-law, Barbara DeArmond (Hollis); two nephews, Tom and Tim Burnham; four nieces, Mary Winters (Charles), Linda Brucks (Edward), Yvonne Chappell and Dee Dee Hill; as well as several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins .
The family would like to express our deep and sincere appreciation to the staff of Maumelle Health and Rehab for their love and care for Mrs. Lawson. She truly had some caring angels.
Mrs.Lawson's family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m. at Cedar Heights Baptist Church in North Little Rock, AR with the funeral services following at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Monticello, AR. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cedar Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 14510 Cedar Heights Rd., North Little Rock, AR 72118.
